Optical Gel is a relatively new bird control product that really changes the game. Most bird control products have a single mode of action of some sort. As an example, bird spike simply makes a surface unavailable to some species of birds. It's a form of exclusion. Repellent Gel may be used on the exact same surface, but the mode of action is discomfort instead of exclusion.

How does Optical Gel work?
- Sight: The gel comes in small, round dishes or trays, and appear as a sort of fire and/or smoke to birds.
- Smell: It's long been know that birds do not care for the odors that are produced by citronella and peppermint oil. People like them, but birds don't.
- Touch: Repellent bird gels have been a part of the bird control arsenal for years, so the fact that they don't like the stickiness of Optical Gel comes as no surprise.
It works so well in many situations that we wish they would come up with a version for bat removal and prevention, too.
Where can Optical Gel be used?
The cool thing about Optical Gel is that it's so easy to use. Simply affix the trays to whatever surface you need to protect. As long as you follow the instructions on the label as far as spacing goes, it's supposed to work on all species of birds. Surfaces include:
